Table tennis coach and athletes urged to be ready for SEA Games 2023

Jan 09, 2023

Keat Chantharith, the president of Cambodia Table Tennis Federation, urged the coach and athletes to be ready for the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia in 2023.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the National Table Tennis Championship at the National Stadium, Chantharith said that he was quite impressed by the organizing committee for organizing that event.

The National Table Tennis Championship aimed to promote table tennis to the public and especially students and college students and to enhance the technical ability of the national athletes.

The event could also boost the athletes’ confidence as they could gain more experience ahead of the 32nd SEA Games that will be hosted by Cambodia for the first time in history.

Chantharith also highlighted the master plan of the Cambodia Table Tennis Federation toward the 32nd SEA Games. Table tennis will be promoted at local schools, and the training will also be provided to the students.

The organizing committee need to be ready for the 32nd SEA Games. “For now, Cambodia has 7 referees, who can reach the international standard,” said Chantharith.

“The Federation has already sent high performing national athletes to have an overseas training to strengthen their ability to achieve our goals at the Games.

“We will host the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia for the first time, so we must work hard to get good results at this historic event.”

Chatharith also encouraged the athletes to maintain their hard work to succeed at the national and international events.

“Even after the 32nd SEA Games, we will still need to keep our hard work and training to develop table tennis in Cambodia,” he added.
